2026 Winter Lecture Series January 15, 2026
The Dust Bowl of the 1930s
The Ennis Heritage Society is welcoming Dan Northcut as a guest speaker to present the changing conditions of the Great Plains culminating in the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. With an emphasis on the Texan parts of the story, he will explore the series of decisions that led to the loss of most of the topsoil over one hundred million acres and one of the largest internal migrations in U.S. history. Mr. Northcut is a 6th generation Texan and a Texas Master Naturalist, retiring last year from the prestigious St. Mark’s School of Dallas after teaching earth and environmental science to 7th and 12th graders for 38 years.
The lecture is FREE and Open to the Public and will be held in the Community Room of the Ennis Public Library.
